The Cornish Tartan Centre is able to assist in the design of your own family''s tartan, please ask us about our offer. it is likely not to cost you anything with a minimum order of tartan fabric from us for 30 metres.
Do you want your own tartan? Although we know of no historic tartans belonging to Cornish families, fragments of tartan cloth have been found in the west of Cornwall, and more than likely colours and distinctive patterns marked particular people living in an area, a family, tribe, clan, or ethnic group in an area, all of whom would have been related or were retainers of the clan (as with the miller or estate steward in a Scottish clan). Clan tartans were not found in Scotland more than 200 years ago so the Cornish have as much if not more right to restore their ancient right to wear tartans and kilts.

The designer of the first modern Cornish tartan, Tony Morton-Nance, believed that apart from National tartans the Cornish were entitled to their own family tartans and designed a Morton-Nance tartan. Would you like your family to have its own tartan? The Cornish Tartan Centre is pleased to offer a tartan design service.
